"Carrying precious cargo": Iowa's Jada Gyamfi reshares a cute snap of her lifting Gabbie Marshall
Jada Gyamfi reunited with one of her closest friends, Gabbie Marshall, in Iowa last weekend. Marshall, Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin and Monika Czinano got together to meet their former Iowa teammates and attend events honoring their successful Hawkeyes team. The Hawkeyes’ social media handles gave fans a glimpse of the reunion at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Among the highlights was a delightful moment where Gyamfi playfully cradled Marshall on her lap at the sideline of the Kinnick Stadium.
"Carrying precious cargo," Gyamfi wrote on the photo reposted from Iowa’s assistant coach Abby Emmert Stamp's update.
After Gabbie Marshall played her last game for the Haweyes this April, she mapped out a two-month vacation with Gyamfi and Kate Martin. The three planned to book a cabin in Colorado and spend some time off the grid in their last days together. However, Martin was picked up by the Las Vegas Aces in the 2024 WNBA draft, canceling the group's travel plans.
Marshall was known for her perimeter defense, leadership and timely 3-point shooting. Gyamfi didn’t get as many on-court opportunities but reportedly brought positivity to the Hawkeyes’ locker room. She is expected to take on a bigger role in the 2024-25 season.
Gabbie Marshall traveled more than a thousand miles to surprise Jada Gyamfi
Earlier this month, Marshall traveled almost 1070 miles from North Carolina to Iowa to surprise Jada Gyamfi. Marshall is pursuing a Master’s from the University of North Carolina and had a rare week off.
She partnered with Kate Martin to set things into motion. Martin picked her up from the airport and helped her deploy the plan. Martin was fresh off her rookie year with the Aces, where she mounted her first conference finals appearance.
Gyamfi was overwhelmed with emotion as she saw her two best friends at her door at midnight and couldn't help but tear up at the thoughtful gesture.
Gabbie Marshall documented the entire trip in a short TikTok video posted on Oct. 12.
