Coach Prime & Pilar Sanders' daughter Shelomi Sanders drops a 2-word message on Alabama A&M player's expressive IG post
Shelomi Sanders has seemingly already formed a great bond with her new teammates at Alabama A&M. The guard made a move to the program this offseason via the transfer portal after spending one season at Colorado.
One of Shelomi’s new teammates, Kourtney Rittenberry, posted on Instagram on Sunday about entering her final season of eligibility in college basketball. Rittenberry also transferred to the Bulldogs this season after spending three years at Arkansas Pine-Bluff.
Shelomi Sanders showed some love and support to Rittenberry in the comment section. Reacting to the Instagram post, Shelomi hyped up her teammate with a two-word message.
“Yeaaa 4,” Shelomi wrote.
Why did Shelomi Sanders leave Colorado?
Shelomi said she decided it was time to carve her own path away from the family in Boulder and pursue her journey as a collegiate athlete on her own terms. In a livestream on Aug. 16, she shared that last year was particularly challenging for her in Boulder and played a role in her decision.
“I don’t want to say anything too bad,” Sanders said on the a livestream. “It just wasn’t good energy. It wasn’t good vibes. There wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player and young lady. If I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would’ve quit.”
Deion Sanders' reaction to Shelomi Sanders’ move
Shelomi Sanders’ decision to transfer away from Colorado did not have the input of her father, Deion Sanders. The decision did not go well with the Buffaloes football coach, who voiced his displeasure at her decision on the DNVR Buffs podcast in April 2024.
“You get a team before you enter the portal,” Sanders said. “That’s what I would advise a child. I know it’s illegal, c’mon, c’mon. Everybody knows somebody that knows somebody, that knows somebody. You kind of nt them to do something.”
"You have to understand. I am a real father; I am a real man and a real dad. Where I come from and historically, kids follow their parents. When do parents start following their kids? That doesn't work in my book.”
Shelomi started her college basketball career at Jackson State while Coach Prime was at the university. She moved to Boulder when he took the Colorado job in the middle of the 2022-23 season. The transfer to Alabama A&M means a return to the Southwest Atheltic Conference for the guard.
