Cooper Flagg stats tonight: How did the Duke star fare vs George Mason (Dec. 17)
Cooper Flagg bounced back from his career-low game against Incarnate Word, posting 24 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block to lead Duke to a 68-47 win over George Mason at the Cameron Indoor Stadium on Tuesday night.
Flagg scored 17 of his points in the second half to help the No. 5-ranked Blue Devils pull away from the Patriots despite a bad shooting night. The 6-9 guard shot 7-of-20 from the field, including 2 of 5 from the 3-point line and made all of his eight attempts from the free-throw line.
Flagg was the only player in double-figures for Duke and his effort helped the Jon Scheyer-coached team improve to 7-0 at home and 9-2 overall.
The Newport, Maine native dropped seven points in the first half, including a 3-pointer and a jumper that gave Duke an early 8-2 lead. The No. 1-ranked freshman in the Class of 2024 couldn't back up his strong start, missing his next attempts from the field.
Flagg would score two more from free throws awarded to him in the 3:38 mark of the first half. Despite his bad shooting, he was able to help the team in rebounding, grabbing seven boards in the first 20 minutes.
He'd pick up his offense in the second half, tallying eight points and two assists in a crucial 15-4 run that helped Duke build a 40-20 advantage with 14:36 left. Cooper Flagg picked up his 10th point of the half with a dunk off a steal from Brayden O'Connor at the 9:10 mark.
The freshman would score his last seven points in the last four minutes, helping the Blue Devils increase their lead to 21 before Khaman Maluach scored the team's last four points from the free-throw line.

Duke bucked a slow start to beat George Mason to extend its winning streak to five games and 9-2 overall. Cooper Flagg made up for his career-low six-point outing against Incarnate Word by scoring 24 points on 7 of 20 shooting and a perfect 8 of 8 from the free-throw line.
Flagg's field goal woes represent the Blue Devils' bad day from the field. The Jon Scheyer-coached squad made 21 of their 56 attempts from the field for a 37.5% clip, including 9 of 27 from 3-pointers.
No other Duke player scored in double digits with Isaiah Evans finishing with nine points and Tyrese Proctor adding eight. The Blue Devils were outrebounded by a gritty George Mason squad 43-42 and lost the points in the paint battle 28-22.
However, Duke surged past George Mason in fastbreak point 16-2 and had more assists (11-5), steals (10-5) and blocks (3-1) to complete the rout.
