The top-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks were able to remain undefeated in their 2024-25 home debut at Colonial Life Arena as they defeated Coppin State Eagles by a final score of 92-60. This game was close late in the first quarter but as the game continued, the larger the lead was able to grow.
The Eagles (2-2) are now 0-2 on the road this season and struggled to get much going. The Gamecocks (3-0) remain undefeated and were able to shoot the ball incredibly well. Guard MiLaysa Fulwiley was able to dominate with 23 points off the bench while forward Chloe Kitts was able to add 19 points herself.

Coppin State vs. South Carolina Game Summary
This game was not very close and a big reason was the shooting numbers. The Eagles shot 36.5% from the floor throughout the game and were able to knock down 33.3% from beyond the arc. The big issue was scoring in the second and third quarters, as Coppin State scored 24 combined points.
The difference though was in the rebounding numbers as the Eagles grabbed just 23 total rebounds (seven offensive, 16 defensive) and were not able to get much going. The offense was not able to do much in the paint as the Eagles only recorded 18 points in the paint and that was a significant reason why Coppin State never was able to lead by multiple possessions at any point of the game.
The South Carolina Gamecocks were able to be electric on the offensive side of the court as they made 51.5% of their shot attempts and drained 45.8% of their threes. They also were able to command the paint and draw fouls, attempting 20 free throws in this matchup. However, the dominance of the Gamecocks came from crashing the glass, as they had 51 total rebounds (18 offensive, 33 defensive). They more than doubled the rebounding number of Coppin State and this was a massive difference that ultimately decided the game.
