Jada Gyamfi and Iowa out of AP Preseason Top 25 rankings
Jada Gyamfi's Iowa Hawkeyes didn't make the AP Preseason Top 25 rankings, three weeks before the 2024-25 women's basketball season. A panel of AP college basketball writers placed the Jan Jensen-coached Iowa in No. 26 with 37 points, one spot below Indiana, who took the No. 25 spot with 46 points.
The rankings could be bulletin board material for the Hawkeyes, serving as a reminder and a motivation for the coaching staff and the players that they have to work harder to prove the AP panel wrong for leaving them out of the Top 25.
Topping the list is South Carolina with 745 points, followed by UConn with 708. USC, Texas and UCLA occupy the third to fifth positions with 697, 641 and 628 points, respectively, while Notre Dame, LSU, Iowa State, North Carolina State and Oklahoma round out the Top 10.
Iowa will open their campaign with an exhibition game against Missouri Western on Oct. 30, then play their first regular season game against Northern Illinois on Nov. 6.
