Dan Hurley calls on UConn fans to extend support for Jim L. Mora and football team

As Dan Hurley and Geno Auriemma's programs hold their stature as one of the top teams in their sports, UConn is also dedicated to fielding its football team to success. The program posted an image of Hurley and Huskies football coach Jim L. Mora on its Instagram with an inspiring message for the university fans.

Hurley called on fans to come together for Huskies football games to support the program and help UConn's impactful image in the world of sports.

"For the profile of the university and what we're trying to do in sports here in general, I think it's critically important that we have a huge crowd this weekend, and that the country can see UConn football can be a big deal and there's a fan base and a desire for it in the state," Hurley said.

The UConn Huskies football team will play the Wake Forest Demon Deacons this weekend at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. It is the Huskies’ (4-2) third of four games against a power conference team this season, where they will aim to maintain their perfect streak at home.

Dan Hurley’s rally cry to Connecticut fans could help gather a larger crowd in the stadium. A packed stadium and their cheers could prove to be the X-factor for UConn moving forward at home games.

Dan Hurley has the second-best fans in college basketball

Despite back-to-back NCAA titles, several preseason estimations and rankings did not give the Huskies the top spot. They were ranked No. 3 in the preseason AP Top 25 poll and his crew was doubted to win it all by several analysts and data experts.

However, when it comes to summoning a crowd, the timing is perfect for UConn. Hurley’s program, behind the recent seasons' success, is listed as having the second-best crowd support in all of Division I basketball by NCAA correspondent Andy Katz.

Singularly, Dan Hurley's coaching acumen has also excursioned the NBA waters, garning a larger fan base. He was the frontrunner for the vacant coaching role for the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, which the UConn coach ultimately denied.
