Deion Sanders' ex-wife Pilar reacts to daughter Shelomi Sanders' 3-pointer and Alabama A&M's win
Pilar Sanders, the former wife of Deion Sanders, showed her support for daughter Shelomi Sanders online after she was involved in Alabama A&M's win over Lindenwood on Saturday. Pilar posted a story to her Instagram with a clip of Sanders draining a shot from 3-point land.
"Go @shelomisanders" she captioned the story. "Congrats on the win!"
Sanders played five minutes, using her time to the fullest as she hit a 3-pointer and dished out two assists.
Sanders' parents, Pilar and Deion Sanders, were married for 14 years, but the pair divorced in 2013.
Shelomi Sanders and the Alabama A&M Bulldogs defeat Lindenwood
While Shelomi Sanders only played five minutes, it was an impactful five minutes in a 61-58 win over Lindenwood, maintaining their perfect road record and handing the Lions their first home loss.
Sanders' teammate, Jaiyah Harris-Smith, got her 300th career assist, and Alisha Wilson earned her second double-double with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Mailyn Wilkerson also added 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Harris-Smith also contributed seven assists, three steals and seven points.
The game was tightly contested, with both teams exchanging leads throughout.
Alabama A&M (5-3) rallied in the second half, fueled by Wilkerson’s back-to-back 3-pointers and held off a late push by Lindenwood (4-4). The Bulldogs shot 41.2% and scored 17 points off turnovers, while Lindenwood shot a better 42.9% but struggled to capitalize on its opportunities.
The win also marked Alabama A&M’s seventh win against Ohio Valley Conference teams and gave Lindenwood its first loss against a Southwestern Athletic Conference opponent.
Sanders and the Bulldogs' next matchup will see them taking on North Alabama on Dec. 17 in Florence, Alabama.
