Dylan Harper Stats Tonight: How did Rutgers freshman fare vs Saint Peter's? (Nov 11) 

Freshman Dylan Harper continues to make waves for Rutgers, leading the Scarlet Knights to a 75-65 victory over Saint Peter's on Monday at Jersey Mike's Arena.

The Don Bosco Prep product continued his hot start for the season. After a 20-point, four-rebound, three-assist and three-steal performance in his debut against Wagner, the 6-foot-6 guard notched a game-high 24 points with six rebounds and one assist.

The freshman sensation had a good shot selection in the first half, converting 4-of-5 layups. However, Rutgers was still down by five points at halftime, 42-37.

Harper had more involvement in the second half, making five quick points within the first two minutes. Despite Rutgers earning a nine-point advantage, the Peacocks managed to force a 65-64 advantage with four minutes left in the game. Harper's layup spearheaded an 11-0 run to secure the 75-65 win in front of the 8,000 crowd at Piscataway.

Peacocks vs Scarlet Knights Game Recap: Dylan Harper, Lathan Somerville combine for 38 to lift Rutgers past Saint Peter's

Dylan Harper proved to be the go-to scoring option among the starters, as Jordan Derkack, Jeremiah Williams, Emmanuel Ogbole and Zach Martini combined for 23 points on 84 combined minutes, nearly matching Harper's sole effort in 32 minutes.

Lathan Somerville came to the rescue, providing lightning-quick production off the bench with 14 points, four rebounds and three blocks in 25 minutes. The freshman center standing at 6-foot-10 never lost his step after notching 11 points and eight rebounds in the 23-point routing against the Wagner Seahawks (75-52).

PJ Hayes IV, Jamichael Davis and Tyson Acuff were also productive bench role players, combining for 14 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Rutgers had a paltry production in the rainbow area, sinking only 3-of-17 3-pointers compared to the 10-of-27 makes by the Peacocks. However, the Scarlet Knights made more trips on the charity stripe, sinking 18-of-25 freebies, 11 more than the visitors. On the defensive end, Rutgers also held the edge on rebounds (29 to 23), steals (five to two) and blocks (five to one) while committing fewer fouls (11 to 23).

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will hope to build another double-digit win when they play the next two games at home against Monmouth (Friday) and Merrimack (Nov. 20) before going on the road against Kennesaw State (Nov. 24).
