“F*ck is you doing bro?”: When Kiyan Anthony let his feelings get the better of him in bad loss after 20-point lead
Kiyan Anthony is arguably among the most talented prospects in the Class of 2025. He has emerged as a four-star shooting guard prospect through his exceptional performances for Long Island Lutheran High and Team Melo, the AAU team that belongs to his father, and 10-time NBA All-Star, Carmelo Anthony.
Besides his massive skill set and physical attributes, Kiyan possesses immense competitiveness, a glimpse of which was seen in the AAU scene last year. After starting the EYBL 0-2, Team Melo scored a tight win against Chris Paul's AAU team, CP3, in which Kiyan hit the game-winner.
Team Melo took on the Georgia Stars in their second game of the day, with Carmelo Anthony inspiring his son and his team from the sidelines. Team Melo started the game strong, racing into a 20-point lead within the first half. However, they suffered a shock slump, which brought out a side of Kiyan Anthony which he might not be extremely proud of.
Following a timeout, Kiyan narrated how the slump began with his teammate, Jacob Ross missing a three-point attempt from a long way out. Not only did Team Melo fail to score, but the Stars raced down the court to score, which triggered Kiyan to go off at Ross.
"The f*ck is you doing bro? Bro, what is that?" yelled an angry Kiyan Anthony. (9:57)
Anthony mentioned how Ross and his shooting ultimately led to Team Melo slipping, before explaining how it felt to give up a 20-point lead.
"Me and Jacob, our two bad shots really affect the momentum," said Kiyan. "One bad play leading to another.
"So, at this point, we losing. From a 20-point lead, we get to losing." (10:05)
With 2.2 seconds to go in the second half, a play was drawn up to get the ball to Kiyan to try and salvage the game. However, they made a bad pass on the inbound, which prompted Kiyan to simply walk off the court in frustration. Team Melo ended up losing 59-57 to the Stars.
Kiyan Anthony was upset with the manner of defeat
In the video, Kiyan Anthony admitted the manner of defeat hurt him more than the simple fact that they lost to the Georgia Stars.
"A team like Georgia Stars, no disrespect to that. But, there's no way we should be up by 20 and they come back and beat us. You can't let that happen," said a disappointed Kiyan. (12:01)
Kiyan Anthony, ranked 34th in the Class of 2025 per ESPN, ended months of speculation around his college decision by committing to his father's alma mater, Syracuse for the 2025-26 season. He looks set to chart out his own legacy at Syracuse, where his father helped them win their only national championship in 2003.
