Kiyan Anthony opened up about facing competition after the Peam Jam this summer
Kiyan Antony, the only son of former NBA star Carmelo Anthony, wowed the crowd by showing his basketball prowess in the Nike EYBL circuit. Many fans and critics are watching out for him as a top recruit in the class of 2025.
When Kiyan appeared on the "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast, Kiyan Anthony talked about facing competition and how he views himself in the mix of other talented prospects.
"I feel like high school is different than AAU 'cause high school I was playing with, like, two top 10 players, and we were, like, top three in the country, but in AAU I gotta be on my own team and be leading and flourish." (29:34)
"So, AAU, every team you play there's gonna be at least one top-ranked player, so that's how you measure yourself: if you're able to guard that person and he's guarding you and if you're able to compete with them and if you're able to get the win," Kiyan Anthony said. (29:53)
Kiyan Anthony has received offers from six programs, including USC, Rutgers, Florida State, Auburn and his father's alma mater, Syracuse. While talking to On3 Sports, he said that Syracuse is an attractive spot for him. Additionally, he also said that he has a close relationship with coach Adrian Autry.
Syracuse has not won a national championship since Carmelo Anthony led the Orange to the 2003 title, the school's only NCAA crown, and his son could help the team do so.
