Flau’jae Johnson stats: How many points did LSU star score against NW State?

Flau’jae Johnson was the star of the night as the LSU Tigers took a 95-36 win over Northwestern State in the PMAC. The junior guard finished with 24 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals on a 10-of-16 shooting from the field.

Johnson has been on a consistent run as she scored 25 points, five rebounds and two assists on a 10-of-15 shooting in the season opener against Eastern Kentucky.

In the post-game press conference, LSU coach Kim Mulkey praised the guard and her performance.

"I think I said it the last game she's just playing with, I don't even want to use the word confidence. She's playing with confidence; it just looks like she's just floating out there," Mulkey said. "Everything's just effortless and just shots, her shots consistent. I think she took two bad shots tonight and she knows it.
"One of the things she did really good tonight, she fed the post early, it was a while before she even took a shot. So she's growing, she had seven rebounds, she and KG both led us in rebounding tonight and she's just, she's playing really well."

After the 2023 NCAA championship win, the Tigers exited the March Madness race last season after the Elite Eight. This time around, LSU will be hoping for another championship run.

Flau’jae Johnson shares her goals for the 2024-25 season

After Angel Reese's exit from LSU for the WNBA, Flau’jae Johnson has been expected to take on the central role that the Chicago Sky forward played in the Tigers roster. Johnson has already set her goals as the leader of the team and shared them during an interview with Sports Illustrated.

"I really wanna win the national championship," she said. "I felt it before but I wanna lead my team to win. Like I feel like if I don't win another championship, it's gonna be a failure for me. I like to just shoot for the moon and work really hard and try to see where I land."

Flau’jae Johnson will not be alone in this task as senior guard Aneesah Morrow is also expected to help lead the Tigers. Coach Kim Mulkey spoke about Johnson's role and her partnership with Morrow after the 114-53 win over Xavier in an exhibition game.

“[Flau’Jae] was phenomenal and I think what you’re seeing from her is comfort,” Mulkey told reporters during a post-game press conference. “She’s a leader and it’s because she has all the experience and puts in the work.
"She and Morrow were the most comfortable out there tonight. I’m not surprised either one of them had double-doubles.”

The LSU Tigers will next play against Charleston Southern on Monday.
