Former NFL star Antonio Brown directs homophobic slur towards Duke star Jared McCain ahead of 2024 NBA draft

With the first round of the 2024 NBA draft beginning on Wednesday, there are a lot of talents getting excited about their leap to the professional ranks, and Duke Blue Devils guard Jared McCain is one of those. While people may have some concerns with his play throughout the season, others seemingly have issues with him outside the court.

In an NSFW tweet that he has become accustomed to sending out, former NFL star and Super Bowl champion wide receiver Antonio Brown reposted a TikTok of Duke's Jared McCain with a homophobic slur as the caption on Wednesday.

Jared McCain had a great season with the Duke Blue Devils as he averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 31.6 minutes per game. He also shot extremely well as he went 46.2% from the floor, 41.4% from beyond the arc and 88.5% from the free-throw line as one of the nation's best shooters.

What does the NBA draft mean for the Duke Blue Devils?

The Duke Blue Devils beginning to get a sense of what coach Jon Scheyer is going to be as he enters his third season as the program's coach of the team. The team went 27-9 (15-5 Atlantic Coast) last season and lost in the NCAA Tournament to the NC State Wolfpack in the Elite Eight, but the Blue Devils saw some significant roster losses with the NBA draft.

Some players that are expected to be drafted are Jared McCain and Kyle Filipowski. However, the team does a great job of restocking the roster as it has elite recruits coming in. That includes forward Cooper Flagg and center Khaman Maluach, among others.

With the Blue Devils' elite talent coming into college basketball, they'll try to compete with the likes of the UConn Huskies to win the national championship, but they are going to be in the hunt nonetheless. DraftKings Sportsbook has the Blue Devils listed with the fourth-best odds to win the championship (+1200) as they are trailing the Kansas Jayhawks, Alabama Crimson Tide and UConn Huskies.
