Haley Cavinder put up her third-straight double-double, leading Miami to a 61-56 victory over Oregon State at the Maui Classic on Saturday at the Seabury Hall in Makawao, Hawaii.
The 5-foot-6 guard finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and one steal, playing the entire 40-minute stretch for the Hurricanes, who came from behind to improve to 11-1.
The Fresno State transfer bucked a slow start, pouring 18 points between the second and fourth periods to beat Oregon State. Cavinder kept her team alive in the second period, putting up six points, on 3-of-5 shooting, one rebound, two assists and one steal.
The guard was instrumental in Miami's 16-6 rally in the third that gave the Hurricanes a 43-37 edge. She scored six points and provided help in the rebounding department, grabbing four boards.
Cavinder put up six points in the payoff period to help Miami hold off a gritty Oregon State to preserve the victory and handed Oregon State its eighth loss in 12 games.

Cameron Williams and Haley Cavinder delivered impressive numbers for the Hurricanes, who unloaded a 16-6 third-quarter run to give the Tricia Cullop-mentored squad a 43-37 lead. Miami mustered enough defense in the payoff period to emerge victorious in a testy encounter.
Williams tallied 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 5-of-5 from the foul line to lead the Hurricanes' offense while Haley Cavinder contributed 20 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and one steal for her third consecutive 20-10 game.
Jasmyne Roberts added 11 points, eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block for Miami, who will return to Coral Gables on Dec. 29 for an ACC showdown against North Carolina.
Catarina Ferreira led Oregon State's offense with 19 points, three rebounds and two steals in 39 minutes while Kelsey Rees added 15 points and nine rebounds.
Cavinder's performance against the Beavers improved her averages to 18.3 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 5.0 apg. She continues to play good basketball for the Miami Hurricanes since deciding to come back for another season with the team.
