Haley Cavinder filled the stat sheet on Sunday at the Watsco Center, finishing with 30 points, six rebounds and nine assists in Miami's 83-74 overtime win over Quinnipiac in the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament.
Cavinder shot 11 of 21 from the field, including 3-9 from beyond the arc, in 42 minutes. She also made 5 of 6 attempts from the charity stripe. With this performance, the Hurricanes improved to 7-0 this season.
Haley Cavinder was active from tip-off, grabbing a rebound and then dishing it off to Cameron Williams for the game's first two points. She dropped her first points of the game on a triple, four minutes into the contest.
Cavinder would set up three 3-pointers to teammates Jasmyne Roberts (twice) and Lemyah Hytton, giving Miami a 21-11 lead with 1:59 left in the quarter. She would pick up her fifth point on a jumper for a 23-16 edge.
Haley Cavinder scored six points in the second quarter on three layups and grabbed two rebounds, helping the Hurricanes build a 41-26 lead at the half.
The 5-foot-6 guard exploded for 11 of Miami's 18 points in the third quarter to stave off Quinnipiac's bid to make a comeback. She would provide two more dimes to Cameron Williams and her sister Hanna Cavinder early in the third quarter, as the Hurricanes held on to a 55-41 advantage.
Haley Cavinder scored five points in the fourth quarter, including a triple with 12 seconds left in the game, to send the contest to overtime.
In the overtime period, Cavinder went 3-4 from the free-throw line and provided two assists to her teammates.

The Miami Hurricanes bucked a fourth-quarter collapse to defeat the Quinnipiac Bobcats in overtime. The Hurricanes were sitting on a 14-point lead after three quarters until the Bobcats unleashed a 22-5 rampage to take a 67-64 lead in the final quarter.
Haley Cavinder spared Miami from impending doom by burying a 3-pointer that sent the game to overtime. Cavinder would pick up three points in the extension, but her pass to Ahnay Adams for a dagger 3-pointer was the game's most important play.
That play gave Miami a six-point separation with 1:07 remaining. Quinnipiac failed to recover from the crucial play and suffered their first loss after starting the season with a 6-0 record.
It was the Hurricanes' sixth straight win at home and they are at 7-0 overall, continuing their strong start to the 2024-25 women's college basketball season.
Miami shot 47.5% from the field and 83.3% from the free-throw line. Quinnipiac, on the other hand, was the more accurate team from long range, making 44.8% of its 3-point attempts.
The Hurricanes topped the rebounds (39-30) and steals (8-7) departments, but the Bobcats edged them in assists (15-14).
Miami will try to win its eighth straight game against Vanderbilt in the ACC-SEC Challenge on Wednesday while Quinnipiac will take on Yale on December 10.
