"He really like that": Milwaukee Bucks' Patrick Beverley hypes up former Huskies star Andre Jackson Jr.'s high school hoops dominance
Andre Jackson Jr. had a pretty fair rookie season in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2023-24. The former UConn guard appeared in 57 games for the team last season, averaging 10 minutes per game. He is now expected to become a more important member of the roster.
Before his college and professional career, Jackson was a top prospect in high school. His performance during his high school career at The Albany Academy in Albany, New York, caught the attention of several college programs across the country.
A video of Andre Jackson Jr.’s high school highlights surfaced on social media on Friday, evidently showcasing why he had offers from several top programs during his recruitment. Patrick Beverley, his current teammate in Milwaukee, couldn’t help but react to his astonishing dunks in the video:
“Naw he really like that. Bright future,” Beverley said on X/Twitter.
Andre Jackson Jr.’s college career at UConn
Andre Jackson Jr. rejected offers from programs like Iowa, Maryland, UCLA and Syracuse to play at UConn. He started his freshman season with the Huskies in 2020 and appeared in 16 games, starting two. He averaged 2.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
While he was only part of the team’s rotation and missed seven games due to a wrist injury in his freshman season, Jackson became a starter as a sophomore at UConn. The guard started all but one game, averaging 6.8 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 3.1 apg.
Jackson was named team captain at UConn in his junior season. While he missed the first three games due to injury, he appeared in 36 games that season, starting 31 of them. He averaged 6.7 ppg, 6.2 rpg and 4.7 apg as he led the Huskies to the national championship.
Andre Jackson Jr.’s future in the NBA
Andre Jackson Jr. was selected as the No. 36 overall pick by the Orlando Magic in the 2024 NBA draft. However, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks on draft night. Without a doubt, it was a noteworthy rookie season for the Bucks, where he was part of the rotation.
Jackson has won over fans in Milwaukee with his commendable intensity and athleticism as a rookie. His impressive flashes in the 2023-24 NBA season have solidified his place in the franchise's future plans, and he is expected to become more important in the team in the next couple of years.
