“He’s loved in Japan”: Carmelo Anthony’s ex wife La La beams with pride as son Kiyan Anthony interacts with fans in Tokyo
Following a solid performance at the 2024 Nike's EYBL Peach Jam, Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, is on a trip to Japan with his mother, La La Anthony Vazquez. La La shared a series of photos on Instagram as the mother-son duo explored the Land of the Rising Sun.
The 42-year-old television personality also shared clips and pictures from their vacation on her Instagram story, including one of Kiyan posing with a fan on a bustling street. She beamed with pride as she captioned the upload:
"He’s loved in Japan 🥹🥰"
Kiyan stood next to a young fan for a photo while someone off-camera requested him to remove his goggles for the picture.
"Can I have one without glasses," the man asked.
Kiyan obliged the request and took off his goggles.
Other snaps on her story show them wandering through the streets of Tokyo and Kyoto, visiting various cultural landmarks, and enjoying tasty Japanese cuisines.
Last week, Kiyan Anthony trimmed down his college offers to the final six schools, which include Syracuse, Auburn, USC, Florida State, Ohio State and Rutgers.
Speaking with On3 Recruits, Kiyan shared his thoughts on his recruitment:
"It's no pressure going there. I know wherever I go, I'm just gonna go there and play my game. But my dad always tells me, 'Don't feel like you got to go to Syracuse because I went there. Really look into these colleges and choose where you want to go'. So, that's what I'm really looking forward to doing."
Kiyan Anthony gets tattoo of mother La La's face
Kiyan Anthony, a 6-foot-5 guard, got a tattoo of his mom La La's face on his forearm. InkedNBA revealed in an Instagram post that Kiyan had his tattoo done by Steve Wiebe, a famous tattoo artist.
"Dear Mom, you continuously put me before yourself. You are my why. I thank God for you everyday.” - The tattoo reads.
Kiyan Anthony's parents, Carmelo and La La, parted ways in June 2021 after a decade of marriage. Despite their split, they have maintained a friendly relationship to co-parent their son with love and care.
"At the end of the day, the center of everything is Kiyan," La La said. "I couldn’t ask for a better partner and the co-parenting space." [H/T E! News]
She further added that it's important for them to make sure that they are a good family, and be able to have fun when they are in a room together.
