“He’s standing out cause he's not standing out”: College hoops insider gives his take on Duke commit Cooper Flagg

Cooper Flagg was the hot topic at the Team USA camp. Flagg was a part of the Select Team and the youngest player on the court. He made headlines by spearheading Select Team's defense, making tough shots and courageously pursuing matchups.

While many claim that Flagg stood out like no other youngster ever, Fox Sports' Gus Johnson had a unique take on the Dan Patrick Show.

"I figured you'd ask me questions like 'Is he standing out?'. I thought about it last night, I said 'Yes he is standing out because he is not standing out,'" Johnson said. (starts 0:50)
"No, he doesn't stand out because he just fits in like he's just normally a part of this situation and he's just 17 years old. I saw LeBron James checking him in the scrimmage and Cooper Flagg was playing point guard. At 17 years old at 6'9 against LeBron James and he didn't flinch, it was nothing. It was just like he was playing against some kids that he played against in high school a few months back in Maine," Johnson elaborated on his statement. (starts at 2:28)

As Team USA now journeys to bring home the prestigious gold Cooper Flagg will join the Duke Blue Devils' program, which he chose over back-to-back champions UConn.

He is anticipated to be the biggest face in the men's collegiate circuit and is projected to be the first pick in the 2025 NBA draft.

Cooper Flagg is set to host his own camp next month

Cooper Flagg is deciding to give back to the place that showered him with years of love and success. Before he scores a bucket for the Blue Devils, Cooper Flagg is launching his own mini camp alongside his brother Ace (an incoming senior in high school at Montverde Academy) to teach and mentor the young players in Maine.

According to its website, the Cooper and Ace Flagg Basketball Procamp is slated for August 10 and 11 and will be conducted inside the University of Maine. Alongside the star brothers, local coaches will also be present in the vicinity. Boys and girls from grades one to six will learn about fundamentals, participate in drills, fun activities and get lectures.

Moreover, there will also be enough time dedicated to autographs and picture sessions with Cooper and Ace Flagg.
