"High school was a mess, bro": Flau'jae Johnson reflects on her Sprayberry glory days and impressive scoring averages

Flau'jae Johnson is arguably one of, if not the most talented players in college basketball today. Prior to establishing herself as a top talent at LSU, she honed her skills at Sprayberry High, emerging as a four-star prospect ranked 26th overall in the Class of 2021.

Today, Johnson is not only a star on the court, but also off it. She is quickly strengthening her credentials as a talented rapper, and her weekly podcast, 'Best of Both Worlds' is garnering a massive amount of listeners as time progresses.

In the latest episode of 'Best of Both Worlds', Johnson reminisced some fond memories from her high school days. She started by mentioning her impressive scoring average of 30 points in her senior season, before mentioning how she didn't always get along with her teammates at Sprayberry.

"I didn't score less than 30 in a game in my high school senior season," said Johnson. "I was stroking, I was letting it fly. And, my teammates, man. I ain't gonna lie, but I don't really brought none of my high school teammates like that. My senior year, they was lowkey mad 'cuz I was like, shooting a lot, but I was making them!" (30:59)

Flau'jae Johnson then detailed how much she missed her life in high school, acknowledging she was at her peak during her time at Sprayberry and wishing to go back to that life.

"High school was a mess bro. High school was crazy. I want to go back to high school, high school was my peak. I had no worries, I was vibing, I barely went to class. I had a half school day, it was just me and my best friends. I thought college would be more of an extension of high school, but boy, was I wrong." (32:02)

She became the first-ever McDonald's All-American recruited to LSU by head coach, Kim Mulkey, and has become one of the best players in her roster over the years.

This season, Flau'jae Johnson has averaged 20.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists, powering the Tigers to a perfect 14-0 start. No. 5 LSU will face Albany in their next game, which will take place on December 29 at 2:00PM ET.
