Hunter Dickinson flaunts his Kansas Jayhawks fit for 2024-25 season in latest photoshoot

Hunter Dickinson has become one of college basketball's best players. The former center for the Michigan Wolverines, who then transferred to the Kansas Jayhawks before last season, will be returning to the Jayhawks for what will be one more season in college.

In preparation for the upcoming season, Dickinson took part in a photoshoot where he showed off his team's uniform. On Tuesday, Dickinson posted some of the pictures from the shoot on his Instagram account.

After three strong seasons with the Wolverines, Hunter Dickinson left the program for one of college basketball's "blue bloods," the Jayhawks, who were one of the favorites to win the national championship and came into the season as the No. 1 ranked team.

During last season, Dickinson averaged 17.9 points per game, with 10.9 rebounds per game and a field goal completion rate of 54.8%. For these, Dickinson led the squad in rebounds and was second-best for points, only behind Kevin McCullar Jr., who has declared for the upcoming NBA draft.

However, while Dickinson was a bright spot for the Jayhawks, they struggled as a team. As the No. 1 program coming into the season, Kansas played an inexperienced squad during the season. While they did defeat eventual national champions, the UConn Huskies, earlier in the season, the Jayhawks struggled against many of their Big 12 rivals.

This culminated in an early exit from the Big 12 championship and then a second-round defeat to the Gonzaga Bulldogs during March Madness.

Hunter Dickinson speaks about the Jayhawks' plans for the upcoming season

The Kansas Jayhawks and Hunter Dickinson will want the upcoming season to be much more successful than their previous one.

Dickinson spoke to On3 about what the Jayhawks' plans for the summer were and the recent preseason polls, which again put Kansas near the top.

"Obviously, there are preseason polls, but we’re pretty much top-five in most of them, and I think rightfully so because we’ve got a really talented group of guys that potentially could be really good," he said.
"Obviously, potentially, because we’ve got to reach that potential, but the pieces are there. We’ve got to try to make sure they fit. I think Coach Self is probably the best in the country at that job."

Dickinson's return to the Jayhawks brings a skilled player that the young team can build around. Additionally, Kansas has taken full advantage of the transfer portal and brought in many talented players, including AJ Storr (formally of the Wisconsin Badgers) and Rylen Griffin.

These players will give Dickinson an experienced set of players that he can work with, and their individual talents mean that Dickinson does not need to single-handedly carry the Jayhawks to success.

This gives Hunter Dickinson and Kansas a decent chance to be competitive in the Big 12 this season and have the possibility to make a run in the NCAA Tournament.
