"I am very flexible as a player" - Bronny James gets real about his preferred playing position on the court
Bronny James, who gave a glimpse of his skillset during the NBA Draft Combine, has weighed in on his preferred playing position on the court. Coming off a tough year at USC, the 19-year-old has shunned the narratives around his draft candidacy.
Now, as he looks to elevate his draft prospects, questions about Bronny's playing position are emerging. The young guard, however, does not want to be tied down to a single position. (Starts at 0:50)
"I can play any of that, play the one or two. I play on ball, off ball. It doesn't matter to me. I feel like I am very flexible as a player," Bronny said.
Bronny James averaged a dismal 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists during his freshman year with USC. He shot 36% from the field and connected with only 26% of his 3-point attempts.
On the other end, his agility makes him a great perimeter defender. Nevertheless, he can efficiently put the ball in transition and has a knack for attacking closeouts.
There are certain areas that the youngster needs to improve. His ball handling, ability to create shots for teammates, finishing in traffic, and creativity off the bounce leave a lot to be desired.
Bronny James is showing signs of improvement
Bronny James has been working on the mechanics of his jumper for some time, mostly regarding balance and shot release. The results were seen in his on-the-move 3-point shooting drills, where he sank 19 of his 25 shots. It was the second-best record from the invited talent pool of 78 players, and first among shooting guards.
He was 2-8 for four points and added four rebounds in 19 minutes in his first scrimmage. He was visibly low on confidence, trying to find his shooting touch throughout the game. His two buckets came from floaters in the second half. Nevertheless, his lateral quickness and pesky defense were on full display, helping him make an easy transition to the second scrimmage.
With the same defensive intensity, Bronny looked more comfortable on offense this time around. He mostly played as an off-ball shot creator and displayed better reads. As a result, Bronny James redeemed himself with a game-high 13 points, two assists, and one rebound while connecting on 40% of his shots.
