"I get this from Kobe": LSU star Flau'jae Johnson credits NBA icon for helping her leave a positive imprint on fans

Flau'jae Johnson is witnessing an increased impact on kids and up-and-coming youngsters. She became a star in her freshman year, helping LSU lift the NCAA title. As Johnson tended to her off-court ventures, the guard slowly climbed the ranks on the roster.

Nevertheless, Johnson claims that her showmanship, outwardness and warmness towards fans stem from Kobe Bryant's beliefs. She said on the Best of Both Worlds podcast:

"I get this from Kobe, in a different way because Kobe was like 'I don't know who has spent their last amount of money to come see me play. So I'm going to go on the court and give everything that I got.'
"My philosophy is the same, but also at the end of the games, I don't know how far these people drove, I don't know how much money they spent, I don't know what little girl I could touch and inspire for her to be great."

Flau'jae Johnson takes pride in staying after games and addressing fan's requests. She claims to simply treat the fans like she would want to be treated by her idols.

As Angel Reese makes a WNBA leap and Hailey Van Lith transfers to TSU, Johnson prepares for increased responsibility next season. However, she plans to fully devote herself to the court as the 2024-25 season stars.

She launched her debut rap album a week ago which drew in Lil Wayne for a feature and was part of the inaugurated lineup at BET’s Culture Class.

Flau'jae Johnson believes authenticity is the key to making an impact

As Flau'jae Johnson made a presence on BET Awards' Brunch on Sunday, she was asked about what makes her a culture creator. Johnson immediately claimed that the key is to always stay genuine, be it for the fans or the cameras.

"Just being authentic. Being authentic in what I do, in my music, in my basketball, in my presence just on social media. I think I'm just so authentic," she said while speaking to a representative of Young, Bold and Regal.

The guard has recently added another layer to her fan interactions through a fresh podcast.

Flau'jae Johnson aimed to keep things simple and unfiltered, appearing with her mom in the first episode and giving backstories on her time at LSU, insights on the 3v3 league she founded, her signature shoe and a lot more.
