Jan Jensen thanked Iowa Hawkeyes fans as the program sold out season tickets for the Carver-Hawkeye Arena for the second season in a row. This was a clear indication of Iowa fans' excitement for a new era in women's basketball, as Jensen succeeds beloved veteran Lisa Bluder as the program's coach.

Jensen shared an Instagram story of the Hawkeyes' success, thanking fans for their commitment to the team.

Jan Jensen set to build her legacy at Iowa

Lisa Bluder decided to retire following a 2023-24 season in which the Hawkeyes finished runners-up for the second time, calling curtains on an incredible coaching career spanning 24 seasons.

However, she failed to win the elusive NCAA Tournament title, which Jensen will hope to do in her maiden season at Iowa.

Jensen was one of Bluder's most trusted assistant coaches. While the loss of Caitlin Clark as the Indiana Fever's top pick in this year's WNBA draft could hurt them, the Hawkeyes have made some notable acquisitions to mitigate that impact.

The Hawkeyes signed an able replacement from the transfer portal in Lucy Olsen, who shined for the Villanova Wildcats in the last three seasons. She enjoyed an incredible 2023-24 season, averaging 23.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 rebounds in 35 starts.

They also have two top-40 recruits in Callie Levin and Ava Heiden, who will strengthen their roster next season. Jensen has most of the pieces in place in terms of her roster and will be favorites for the NCAA Tournament title once again.

They will begin the 2024-25 season on October 30th by taking on the Missouri Western Griffons in front of the Iowa faithful at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
