“I knew it was going to be funny when y’all started rapping”: Flau'jae Johnson roasts Sydney Colson and Theresa Plaisance
LSU star Flau'jae Johnson exploded onto the college basketball scene last season, averaging 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Besides her basketball career, Johnson has also gained a reputation as a rap music artist.
The Georgia native, whose debut EP 'Best of Both Worlds' was released this summer, also hosts a podcast with the same name on YouTube.
On Thursday's episode, two WNBA champions, Sydney Colson and Theresa Plaisance, joined her and the trio engaged in some playful banter.
They briefly recalled the moment when Flau'jae Johnson appeared on Colson and Plaisance's 'The Syd + TP Show' last year.
"First, I was nervous bro cause that was my first acting kind of thing like, with a script, but then, when I think Syd was there, she made it super cool," Johnson said. ... "and it was so funny, I knew it was going to be funny especially when y'all started rapping. The punch lines were set up perfect. It was great." [Time Stamp - 2:21]
In a scripted segment, Flau'jae was working on an album and waiting for some artists in a studio. Sydney and Theresa played the role of the artists holding up the recording session.
Here's the video of Flau'jae's time on the SYD + TP show:
Former Seattle Storm forward Theresa Plaisance described the experience in these words:
"It was also our first time with the script as well, and then you [Flau'jae] came in. We never did acting before, so we were pretending we knew what we were doing. Then you came in and said it was your first time, and we were like, 'Dang!'" [2:59]
Flau'jae Johnson shares her thoughts ahead of her junior year
With two stellar seasons, Flau'jae Johnson has proven herself as one of the most promising young talents. She is expected to take on a greater role at LSU this coming season and has her sights set on becoming the nation's elite player.
"Being a junior now, you get a feel for everything that is going on," Flau'jae said. "You don’t think too much about the [preseason], you think about getting on a roll at the right time and on a roll when SEC play comes around.
"It’s just about building right now, learning each other, and keeping that chemistry growing."
In the Tiger's first exhibition match against Xavier this Thursday, Flau'jae Johnson gave a five-star performance, scoring 30 points along with 10 rebounds. LSU won the game with a 61-point margin as the final score read 114-53.
