"I like to keep it cute": Raven Johnson takes the Cavinder twins path as she expresses her "demure" fashion sense in latest NIL collab
South Carolina guard Raven Johnson on Wednesday was featured in an Under Armour Instagram post, where the two-time national champion gave fans insight into a day in her life. The guard also talked about her fashion sense, saying that she meticulously plans her attire and game-day fits.
Johnson also discussed summer and winter styling choices, showcasing a personal mix of elegance and flair, just like the Cavinder twins, Haley and Hanna, from the Miami Hurricanes.
"When I tell y'all I like to look good, I like to look good," Johnson said. "I am a type of person to have a game day fit. I think my game day fits, I want them to be very demure because they're tunnel pics. That's something I post on social media.
"In the summer, oh, trust and believe, I'm gonna show my skin. Like, I'm that type of girl. But in the winter, I wear big coats and big sweats. Right now, I'm wearing that to class. I like to keep it cute, I like to keep it classy, I like to keep it demure."
Under Armour also uploaded an extended video on its YouTube channel. It also gives insights into Johnson's daily schedule, training, team practice, mentality, team spirit and more.
Raven Johnson signed an NIL deal with Under Armour in March 2022, becoming one of the first players to land a deal with the brand.
Raven Johnson will be eligible for the 2025 WNBA draft
In her junior year (after taking a medical redshirt for her knee injury as a freshman in 2021-22), Raven Johnson will be eligible to enter the WNBA draft once she turns 22 on March 4. However, given her stats and development this season, Johnson may exercise the final year of college eligibility to improve her draft stock.
Her coach, Dawn Staley, believes that the next step for Johnson is to improve her scoring. She said before the 2024-25 season started that the pass-first guard needs to be more selfish on the court.
"I think Raven needs to be a little more selfish and take some more shots," Staley said (Timestamp: 4:10).
"If you look at Raven, she is very, very, very unselfish. She would much rather pass the basketball, and sometimes when you get in as a point guard, you get in the mode of that. You miss out on some scoring opportunities just to keep the defense honest. So, that is the next step for her."
Raven Johnson is still working on elevating her numbers enough to get a draft invite from the WNBA or become a rookie free agent. She is averaging 5.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
