“I love you”: Last-Tear Poa wishes a warm birthday to Flau'jae Johnson by sharing an unseen Polaroid of the two
LSU star Flau'jae Johnson turned 21 on Sunday. Her teammate Last-Tear Poa made sure to commemorate the special occasion with a warm tribute on Instagram.
Poa, a Tigers' junior guard, shared a never-before-seen Polaroid photo of herself and Flau'jae in her story.
"Happy Born Day Darling, I love you," Last-Tear captioned.
In the picture, Johnson can be seen flashing her signature big smile as she wraps her arms around Poa while the two friends look fondly at the camera.
The Australian athlete also added another story, resharing Flau'jae Johnson's post from her birthday. The 5-foot-10 guard and rapper styled a bold look by wearing a sheer, sparkling bodysuit for her special day.
Mikaylah Williams, a sophomore LSU star, also showed love to Flau'jae by sharing a picture of the two from this year's Tigers' photoshoot day.
"happy Bday to my main hitter, love you @flaujae," she added a heartfelt note.
Last-Tear Poa and Johnson arrived in Baton Rouge together in 2022 and won the national championship the same season. In her two years at LSU, Poa has played 72 games, starting only in twelve. She averaged 4.9 points, 3.0 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game last season.
However, Poa will not be featured in LSU's squad for the season opener against Eastern Kentucky on Monday due to visa issues, coach Kim Mulkey confirmed.
Flau'jae Johnson eyes another championship with LSU
Flau'jae Johnson had a surreal freshman season, which ultimately culminated in a national championship with the Tigers.
Her goal for the upcoming season is simple—to lead LSU to another title, this time as the key player for the program. With the newfound role as leader, she has set high expectations for herself and her team.
"I like to just shoot for the moon and work really hard and try to see where I land," Johnson said. "It’s on me to make a big splash."
The Georgia native posted 14.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 2.5 apg last season. Going into the new campaign, she successfully kept her momentum as she displayed solid performances in LSU's exhibition games in October.
Flau'jae Johnson scored 30 points and 10 rebounds against Xavier New Orleans and followed it up with 29 points versus LSU–Alexandria.
"[Flau'jae] was phenomenal and I think what you’re seeing from her is comfort," Mulkey praised Johnson post-game. "She’s a leader and it’s because she has all the experience and puts in the work."
Johnson's junior season tips off on Nov. 4 at home against Eastern Kentucky in a nonconference game.
