"I'm not gonna be good at this": Paige Bueckers tries identifying Cartoon Network characters in a fun video

Paige Bueckers, preparing for her final college season, participated in the Big East media day for the last time on Wednesday. There, she was tested on her childhood memories.

When asked to name Cartoon Network's characters, the guard said:

"Oh, I'm not gonna be good at this."

Even so, she correctly answered two out of the three questions.

After four years with the UConn Huskies, Paige Bueckers is preparing to move on from college after the 2024-25 season. The guard missed significant time due to injuries, and an NCAA championship would be the perfect way to tie things up.

During her chat with the press at the Big East media day, Bueckers said:

"I don't even think I could put into words what it would mean, but it would mean everything. Obviously, everything that I've been through, me coming back, a lot of my teammates coming back from injury — all the adversity, all the hardships. Would definitely mean everything to cap it off."

Bueckers is one of the few student-athletes to have an amazing college career and yet miss out on a championship. The guard shared that she will do everything to avoid this.

"I obviously feel a sense of urgency," Bueckers told SNY. "It's definitely the national championship or bust. That's always been the case here at UConn.
"But just not focusing on that, focusing on winning every single day we have in front of us. ... It's one day closer to my career being over, so it's crazy when you put it that way."

Paige Bueckers headlines the Naismith Women's Player of the Year Watch List

In 2021, Paige Bueckers was named Player of the Year by the AP and the USBWA and won the Naismith and John R. Wooden awards, among other titles. As a freshman, she led the Huskies to the Final Four and was on track to be one of the greatest college players.

However, since that season, Bueckers struggled majorly with injuries and only enjoyed a good season last year. The guard was named to the Naismith Women's Player of the Year Watch List on Monday.

The UConn Huskies will begin their season on Nov. 7 against Boston, and Paige Bueckers will be closely watched as the year unfolds.

A national championship is not a determinant for such awards as ballots are collected before the NCAA Tournament ends. Caitlin Clark won every major award but lost two finals, one to LSU and one to South Carolina. Observers will be looking to see how healthy Bueckers remains through the season and how involved she is in the Huskies' victories.
