“I’m ready to make my decision”: Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan reveals his top 3 schools, hints towards announcement date
Kiyan Anthony is among the most followed high school basketball players in the 2025 recruiting class. The 6-foot-4 combo guard is the best player out of New York and is slated for his senior high school year.
Kiyan received more than 20 college offers before his decorated AAU stints this summer. After posting a 40-point performance against Mac Irvin Fire in the EYBL Peach Jam tournament, he shared his top six schools: the USC Trojans, Rutgers, Ohio State, Florida State, the Syracuse Orange and Auburn.
Anthony appeared on WNBA star Angel Reese's podcast, "Unapologetically Angel," which was released on Thursday. Reese asked the 17-year-old about when he planned on picking a school, and he replied, "Two weeks."
Reese then asked Kiyan about his top five schools, and he replied with a top three:
"I got a top three, Auburn, USC, Syracuse," Anthony said. (5:22)
Later in the episode, Reese asked whether Anthony was ready to make his decision about which college to choose as well as starting college life. Anthony replied in the affirmative, reiterating his two-week timeline.
"I'm ready to make my decision. Two weeks," Anthony said. (29:46)
The Auburn Tigers are the favorite to land AJ Dybantsa, the top-ranked prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. Anthony and Dybantsa paired up in SLAM's Classic showdown this summer, getting a feel for each other's games, and also posed for the cameras together.
USC is known to land star kids from all around the globe, and it could give Anthony a neutral environment to develop his skills. LeBron James' son Bronny James also came from USC.
Syracuse remains the favorite to land Kiyan Anthony due to his dad's connection with the program. Carmelo Anthony was a one-and-done player with the Orangemen, leading them to the 2003 NCAA title before getting drafted by the Denver Nuggets in the NBA.
Kiyan Anthony's longtime trainer wants him to be in Syracuse
Chris Brickley, Anthony’s trainer who has been working out with him since sixth grade, believes that the 17-year-old will follow in his father’s footsteps in college.
Alongside Anthony, Brickley has also coached Bronny James. In an episode of the “Pardon My Take” podcast last week, the host asked the trainer about the most similarity between James and Anthony’s games and their fathers.
Brickley not only sided with Anthony but also claimed that he envisions the youngster rep a Syracuse jersey.
Syracuse is also the only school Anthony has visited multiple times and has also hosted the coaching staff for an open court in New York.
