IN PHOTOS: Deion Sanders' daughter Shelomi Sanders dons latest Alabama A&M jersey for 2024-2025 season
Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders’s daughter Shelomi Sanders transferred to Alabama A&M this summer. Despite it being the third team in her college career, Sanders has seemingly transitioned well into the new program.
With that, as the Bulldogs bring in a new rendition of their gameday jerseys, Sanders posed for the first few looks of the cut alongside Lauryn Ashley.
“New Uniforms Are IN. 🤫🔥 #BeADawg24 #BIGENERGY #AAMU,” the program captioned the Instagram post.
Sanders chose an opposite athletic path to her brothers Shedeur and Shilo in light of making the most of her remaining eligibility.
She played for the Jackson State Lady Tigers in her initial two years, where his father coached the football squad. Last year, as Deion Sanders found a new role in Colorado, she transferred to the university in light of staying close to family.
Nevertheless,Alabama coach Dawn Thornton reportedly sees Sanders as a potential three-point threat, which will give her ample opportunities to slowly carve in a bigger role.
Why did Shelomi Sanders transfer away from Colorado?
Sanders was heavily unutilized throughout her Colorado stint. With little to no playing time under JR Payne, Sanders played seven games while averaging 0.7 points and 0.6 rebounds under 2.6 minutes.
Moreover, alongside the dent in her basketball career, the situation weighed mentally on the 20-year-old.
"For me, I would say, yeah, last year during the beginning where I just came home sad every day," Sanders said during an Instagram live on Aug. 11. "I was sad and mad like every day. That and when I was at Jackson, like if I didn't leave when I did, I promise you I would have quit," she added.
As a result, Shelomi Sanders chose to start fresh and entered the transfer portal in April. The five-foot-five guard averaged 16 ppg during her high school senior year for Rockwall-Heath and earned All-District first-team honor for District 10 6A in Texas.
