IN PHOTOS: Iowa's Lucy Olsen bonds in style as she shares exciting snaps with Hannah Stuelke, Sydney Affolter, and more
Lucy Olsen is certainly enjoying life in Iowa. Following her transfer to the Hawkeyes this April after spending three successful seasons with the Villanova Wildcats, Olsen has been blending into her new home and she's not afraid to show it on social media.
On Saturday, the talented point guard shared some joyous moments from her first offseason as a Hawkeyes player. She took to Instagram, admitting one of her new teammates, Taylor Stremlow, beat her to the caption of the post.
The series of photos begins outside a theatre, where Olsen is seen with Hannah Stuelke and Taylor McCabe. She also shared a snap from a party that she attended along with fellow guard Sydney Affolter.
Stuelke also features in a few other snaps in Olsen's collage, the most prominent one being a Hawkeyes practice session. She was also seen getting along with Callie Levin and Aliyaah Guyton.
Amid all these memories, Olsen also shared an adorable snap with her boyfriend Grayson Herr, who plays basketball for the Trinity Tigers.
Herr responded to her message with a cheeky GIF of Iowa, while Jada Gyamfi showed her affection for those snaps with a simple comment.
Gyamfi exclaimed, "So cute!"
Lucy Olsen keen to impress on the Hawkeyes
Olsen produced a stellar season for the Wildcats last year. She ranked third in the country for points per game (23.3) while shooting .438 from the field, .294 from 3-point range and .807 from the free-throw line. She finished her career with the Wildcats as the program's ninth-highest points scorer of all-time (1,504).
Her impressive performances for the Wildcats earned her an Unanimous First-Team All-Big East selection and Honorable Mention All-American honoree by the WBCA and the Associated Press. She also won the Most Improved Big East Player and the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Year awards.
The Hawkeyes added Olsen from the transfer portal with the aim of replacing star point guard Caitlin Clark, who the Indiana Fever made the top overall pick in this year's WNBA Draft. Clark's lasting impression on the Hawkeyes leaves Olsen with huge shoes to fill, which she proved she can do during the 2023-24 season.
The Hawkeyes fell short in the NCAA Tournament championship game, suffering defeat to the LSU Tigers. They will hope to go one step further this season and with Lucy Olsen on their roster, it seems they have solved their prominent point guard issue.
