IN PHOTOS: Kim Mulkey's LSU Tigers line up for fancy photoshoot ahead of 2024-25 college basketballĀ season
The LSU Tigers women's basketball team added a touch of glamour to their offseason as players from their 2024-25 roster took part in a fancy photoshoot. The team's Instagram account uploaded stunning shots of seven players, featuring some experienced players and some new ones.
Among the experienced players were Aneesah Morrow, Mikaylah Williams, Sa'Myah Smith and Last-Tear Poa. Morrow, a two-time All-American, and Poa will look to produce strong senior seasons, while Williams, one of the nation's top freshmen last season, will try to develop further as a sophomore.
Smith, who suffered an ACL injury last season, will hope to come back stronger in the upcoming season.
Three new players also took part in the photo shoot, the first of whom was Mjracle Shepperd. She emerged as a reliable shooter from the field (.432) with limited game time at Mississippi State and adds considerable depth to the Tigers' roster. She will wear No. 1, which was worn by another guard, Angelica Velez, last year.
The next was Jersey Wolfenbarger, who looked impressive in two seasons with the Arkansas Razorbacks. The 6-foot-5 forward made the SEC All-Freshman team in the 2021-22 season, averaging 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds, and also won a gold medal at the 2021 U19 World Cup with Team USA. After missing the 2023-24 season, she will wear the No. 8 jersey.
The final newcomer in the photoshoot was Jada Richard, a four-star prospect from Louisiana Christian Academy (in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana) who won the 2024 Gatorade Louisiana Player of the Year. She will wear the No. 30.
Can Kim Mulkey lead the LSU Tigers to another NCAA Tournament title?
Under Kim Mulkey's leadership, the Tigers women's basketball program has emerged as one of the strongest not only in the Southeastern Conference, but the entire country as well.
LSU followed up its first NCAA championship in 2023 with an appearance in the Elite Eight, showing the incredible progress they have made with Mulkey at the helm. The Tigers hadn't had back-to-back 30-win seasons since their run of five straight Final Fours from 2004 to 2008. Before her arrival, LSU had gone seven years without an NCAA Tournament win.
Although the Tigers have lost Angel Reese (WNBA) and Hailey Van Lith (transfer to TCU), they still have one of the best rosters for the 2024-25 season. With stars like Williams, Flau'jae Johnson and Amani Bartlett, Mulkey has the tools needed to make a strong push for a second NCAA title in three seasons.
