South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley is having the time of her life at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After leading the Gamecocks to an undefeated national championship last season, Staley has been spending her time making memories and cherishing the offseason.
Staley has also been extending her continuous support to all United States athletes during the Summer Games. On Saturday, the U.S. women's soccer team had its gold medal showdown against Brazil. The Americans entered this year's Olympics with a revamped roster and a new coach.
The USWNT defeated Brazil 1-0 to bag the gold medal in Paris, with Dawn Staley sharing snippets of the celebrations on social media. In a post on X, Staley posed with various players on the team and accompanied it with a congratulatory message.
"IT'S A GOLD MEDLA PARTY INSIDE MY CITY... PARIS IS MY CITY! @USWNT," Staley wrote on X along with the photos.
Mallory Swanson scored the game-winner for her country in the 57th minute.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher sealed the victory for the United States with a one-handed save on an attempted header by Brazil's Adriana in the final minutes of stoppage time. This victory led USWNT to its first gold in 12 years.

Apart from soccer, the South Carolina coach has also been closely following the U.S. men's and women's basketball teams. During the men's finals against France, Staley shared a snap of NBA star LeBron James in action at Bercy Arena as thousands of fans cheered the team on.
"I'm a witness! @KingJames @usabasketball," Staley wrote
In the end, LeBron James and his team emerged victorious over France 98-87 to take the gold medal in this year's Olympics. The United States has now bagged five consecutive gold medals in men's basketball. In the women's category, the Americans will take on France in the final on Sunday.
Dawn Staley will also be motivated enough to defend her natty championship in the upcoming season ahead with the Gamecocks.
