IN PICS: Dan Hurley’s wife Andrea shares gratitude-filled snaps post Good Morning America appearance
Dan Hurley continued to honor media duties alongside his wife Andrea ahead of the 2024-25 season. The couple made an appearance on Good Morning America earlier today, an experience which Andrea was immensely grateful for.
She took to Instagram shortly after her appearance with the Huskies' head coach, showing her gratitude to host Robin Roberts for having them on the show.
A key question posed by Roberts on the show was about Dan Hurley's decision to reject a massive offer from the Los Angeles Lakers to stay at UConn. He said it came down to choosing the best option for his family and the people he worked with.
"It wasn’t anything negative about the opportunity to coach in the NBA," said Hurley. "It’s just how much you love where you are and the people that you get to do it with.
"So many family considerations. Obviously, all of our family lives in Jersey, and even the chance when you coach at UConn to be a part of your journey. You know your games at Madison Square Garden, Big East Tournament.
"The connection that you develop with your fanbase, with the great people, the state of Connecticut, with players that you get really close to that becomes family to you."
Meanwhile, Andrea said Dan received help from a group chat that they were part of, where everyone thought he should stay at Storrs.
"All day long, we kept going back and forth," said Andrea. "So, that night, many tears later, we said, 'Okay, count of three, let’s say stay or leave.' Thank goodness we all said stay."
Dan Hurley on the cusp of history at UConn
Dan Hurley led the Huskies to a successful defense of the national championship. They lost just three games all season, as he won the Big East Coach of the Year and the Naismith College Coach of the Year awards.
Heading into the 2024-25 season, the Huskies are among the preseason favorites to win the NCAA Tournament. Should Hurley's team defend its crown again, it will become the first since the 1967-73 UCLA Bruins to complete a three-peat.
The Huskies will begin the upcoming season with a home game against the Sacred Heart Pioneers on November 6.
