The new season for the Lady Tigers basketball team begins on Thursday when they take on Xavier in an exhibition game.

LSU's star player Flau'jae Johnson, who has been occupied with her music expedition, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming campaign.

"[1:48] It's fun ... just being able to do it at LSU, the highest of the highest stature, but right now I'm really locked in on the season," she said during SEC Media Day. "Like coach Mulkey said we got a new team, and every day we have to come in and play hard and try to stack days. That's what it's about right now."
"I'm itching to play. I'm itching to get on the floor," she added.

Johnson dropped her debut album "Best of Both Worlds" featuring rappers Lil Wayne and NLE Choppa in June. Coach Kim Mulkey also made a surprise cameo in Johnson's music video 'Came Out A Beast.'

She has been smoothly handling both sides of her talents, dividing her time evenly between basketball and her musical aspirations.

Last season, as a sophomore, she was named to the All-SEC second team, posting 14.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 2.5 apg for the Tigers.
