IN PICS: LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson turns heads in sheer, sparkling dress for 21st birthday
Before she even turned 21, Flau’jae Johnson is already thriving in her dual passions - basketball and rap music. Apart from winning an NCAA national title, Johnson has also emerged as a key face in collegiate sports’ NIL movement.
This week, Johnson is gearing up to lead the LSU Lady Tigers in their season opener on Monday. However, she took a break to celebrate her 21st birthday in style. She stepped out in a stunning, sheer dress that turned heads.
She posted the pictures of the dress on her Instagram, captioned:
"Champagne Poetry #21"
The sheer dress was filled with rhinestones stripped all over. The dress has a haltered neck, which is also made of strips from stones. She went with no accessories with the look. The athlete added a white fur coat on top of the attire. She ended her look with a messy bun with two strands of hair floating on her face.
Flau’jae Johnson thriving both on and off-court
The athlete has established her as an up-and-coming rapper, especially after performing at the BET Hip Hop Awards and trading verses with rap legends like Lil Wayne.
Not only that, she recently impressed fans with a freestyle over Tommy Richman's “Million Dollar Baby.”
Johnson also hosts her podcast "Best of Both Worlds with Flau'jae", dedicated to discussing her dual passions of basketball and music. The podcast has already featured guests like viral gymnast Olivia Dunne. In a recent episode, she shared her thoughts on the internet backlash Caitlin Clark faced after LSU’s tournament loss to Iowa last season.
On the court, Johnson proved herself as an asset to the Lady Tigers. Last season, she averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists, making her one of LSU’s most reliable players. She entered the program as a freshman, teaming up with Angel Reese to help LSU clinch their first-ever national championship.
Currently, she is reported to earn an impressive $1.5 million per year, positioning her as one of the top-earning female college athletes according to On3’s Women’s Top 100 NIL Rankings.
With Angel Reese no longer on the team, Johnson is now stepping into a larger leadership role under the guidance of Kim Mulkey, LSU’s championship-winning head coach. Her leadership experience will no doubt be enriched by the wisdom shared by seasoned players like Las Vegas Aces star, Chelsea Gray.
On Thursday's episode of Best of Both Worlds, Johnson hosted Gray.
“Everybody says communication is huge, but I think the biggest thing is how you communicate to each person is totally different,” Gray explained
The Lady Tigers are prepared to open their season at home against Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 4.
