"Is he gonna be like Melo?": College hoops go wild as Carmelo Anthony’s Son Kiyan dominates 2024 Nike EYBL
Kiyan Anthony was one of the best players in Nike's 2024 EYBL Peach Jam Tournament. Even though Team Melo did not make the main event due to their EYBL season record, they were invited to the PIT (Peach Invitational Tournament).
Playing against rosters like Team Durant and Team Griffin, Anthony was one of the best players in the competition, churning out averages of 21.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting over 40% from the field.
Swish Culture recently uploaded Kiyan Anthony's mixtape, highlighting some of his best shots from the entire EYBL season.
Fans immediately marveled at the 17-year-old's shot-making ability and versatility on the court:
"Watched him at the Jam he's legit," a fan advocated Anthony's scoring touch.
"Is he gonna be like melo a pure scorer?" another enthusiast wrote.
"Better than 55th right now," an admirer compared Kiyan Anthony to Bronny James.
As Anthony continues to progress, several fans have come up with their projections for his potential future:
"If he keeps improving at this rate then the nba is definitely in his future he'll probably stay 2 3 yrs in college there's the nil & and he doesn't have money issue," a fan quipped.
"Once he get court vision he'll open the game up for himself! Still a buck already," another one wrote.
"scary hours once the athleticism and wight go up," another enthusiast commented.
Kiyan Anthony declares his favorite college programs
Anthony’s most notable PIT games came against Mac Irvin Fire, where he dropped a 40-bomb while shooting 15-19 from the field (78.9%). With the narratives around his college at a high, he hinted at potential landing spots.
Kiyan Anthony has picked Ohio State Buckeyes, USC Trojans, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Florida State Seminoles, Auburn Tigers and his father’s alma mater, Syracuse Orange.
While Anthony has visited a few programs, including the Oranges, where he even donned their jersey alongside Carmelo Anthony, he is planning to visit the six schools again with the intention of committing in late fall.
Kiyan is a top-30 recruit in the 2025 class, top-5 amongst shooting guards and number one in New York. Even though his game style, due to his growth, is subjected to change, he loves to shoot the ball like his father and can fit right in run-and-gun, quick-offense type playbooks.
