Is Hailey Van Lith playing for TCU today? Exploring the TCU transfer's status for season opener

Hailey Van Lith transferred to the TCU Horned Frogs for her final season of eligibility during the offseason after starring for the LSU Tigers last season. She will take the court in the Horned Frogs' white and purple in their season opener against the Houston Christian Huskies at 7:30 pm ET on Tuesday.

The Women Hoops Network's X account shared a tweet confirming she will play in the Horned Frogs' season opener.

Van Lith also features in the Horned Frogs' graphic promoting their game against the Huskies, as well as the team photo where the entire roster wears their new t-shirts that will be made available to students this season.

After donning the #11 jersey for the Tigers last season, Van Lith will return to her #10 jersey with the Horned Frogs after last wearing it when representing the Louisville Cardinals for three seasons.

Van Lith and the Horned Frogs will don a retro jersey for their season opener against the Huskies, featuring their famous white and purple color scheme.

Following three strong seasons at Louisville, Hailey Van Lith entered the transfer portal during the offseason last year and was rated the top player in the portal by ESPN. The LSU Tigers strengthened their backcourt with the addition of Van Lith, who helped them to an Elite Eight finish last season.

Van Lith started all 33 games she appeared in, averaging 11.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists and her 118 assists were ranked eighth in the SEC, just one short of her career-high single-season assists tally, which she achieved in her final season at Louisville.

Van Lith was also selected to represent Team USA in the 3x3 women's basketball event at the Paris Olympics, winning a bronze medal with Cierra Burdick and Rhyne Howard. She was also recognized for her effort in the tournament, making the All-Star team alongside Germany's Sonja Greinacher and Spain's Sandra Ygueravide.

Following the 2023-24 season, Van Lith hit the transfer portal and was ranked the top player in the portal for the second season in a row by ESPN. Per Clutchpoints, she showed faith in TCU's head coach Mark Campbell, and decided to take her talents to the Horned Frogs this season.

The Horned Frogs will look to Van Lith to play a pivotal role for them this season as they seek to end their 15-year postseason drought this year.
