“It’s more than just a partnership”: Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan once talked about his first major NIL partnership with PSD underwear
Kiyan Anthony’s first major NIL partnership came last year as a 16-year-old. PSD, a premium underwear brand that has had a handful of NBA stars under its branding umbrella, offered an endorsement deal to Anthony in September 2023.
While it may seem like a pure business endeavor, for the high school basketball player, his first partnership meant much more, as he was a regular customer of the brand.
“It’s more than just a partnership,” Kiyan Anthony said in an interview with Jeremy Crabtree of On3.
“It’s a collaboration that represents my style and my love of basketball. Together, we’re going to redefine what it means to be comfortable and confident both on and off the court.”
Anthony became the youngest hooper in PSD’s pool of basketball players consisting of Ja Morant, Trae Young, Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Bronny James and Cavinder Twins.
Just like other hoopers, Anthony was tasked with spearheading the designs and prints of an exclusive product line that would be reflective of his personality and preferences.
As a result, the Long Island Lutheran guard worked with PSD’s top designers to craft a collection representing his Brooklyn roots through poppy color schemes and graffiti-like prints. Moreover, he also promoted his own clothing brand ‘One Way’ through the designs.
Which college could Kiyan Anthony land in next year?
The 17-year-old recently declared his top-six preferred schools to play college basketball. He named Auburn Tigers, Syracuse Orange, Ohio State Buckeyes, Scarlet Knights, Florida State Seminoles and the USC Trojans.
However, until Kiyan Anthony reveals more about his leaning, Syracuse, Seminoles and Buckeyes are the top contenders to garner his commitment.
Ohio State has been high on Anthony's list, as the program has consistently displayed support and interest in the young guard. Its coaching staff was present in most of his games during the PIT.
Moreover, Florida Seminoles and Syracuse Orange are the only two schools Kiyan Anthony has visited so far, making their case stronger to land him. Additionally, his father Carmelo Anthony has good relations with Florida coach Leonard Hamilton.
However, that doesn't top Syracuse, which has Melo's #15 hanging in the rafters due to their lone 2002-03 NCAA championship season with the former NBA star.
