“It’s like the Bachelor”: Iowa’s Jada Gyamfi and freshman Taylor Stremlow draw hilarious parallel with committing to Hawkeyes

In a segment of Iowa Hawkeye Jada Gyamfi's podcast Fresh Tawk on Oct. 15, the junior forward and her guest, Iowa freshman Taylor Stremlow, compared the college basketball recruitment process to the hit ABC reality show The Bachelor.

Stremlow explained what it was like to tell other programs she committed to Iowa, and Gyamfi dropped the funny take.

"Being recruited is like being in a 'situationship,'" said Gyamfi. "Literally, you feel like you're just leading people on and you're like, 'Do you want me? Do I want you?' ... and then in the end you have to ... it's like The Bachelor."
"I was just going to say it's like The Bachelor!" said Stremlow.

Gyamfi continued the comparison.

"Then you have to break up with all these people. That's the worst part," she said. "It's like, I like you, but like, I don't see a future with us."

The Hawkeyes enter a new era without Caitlin Clark

It's going to be a little strange for Iowa fans to not see Caitlin Clark running out on opening night this season.

There have been questions about the Hawkeyes' competitiveness without the WNBA Rookie of the Year. But there have also been some optimistic answers from the team, most notably the transfer of one of the best scorers in the country, Lucy Olsen, who seems ready to lead her team.

Gyamfi and Stremlow will have to step up this season

The likes of Gyamfi and Stremlow will have important roles to play in maintaining the strong record of the Hawkeyes.

"I'm excited to play in front of people," Stremlow told Gyamfi. "To run out and see all the people ... I'm really excited for that."

Iowa will officially tip off their season on Nov. 6 against Northern Illinois at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
