Johni Broome stats tonight - How did Auburn star fare vs Georgia State? (Dec 17)
Johni Broome's night was cut short due to an injury suffered in the first quarter during the No. 2 Auburn Tigers' matchup against the Georgia State Panthers on Tuesday night. He scored two points on 1-of-3 shooting.
Broome missed his first two shot attempts in the first minute of the game. The following minute, he bounced back by making a block and a layup as he helped Auburn score the first four points of the game.
However, having made his second block of the night 2:11 into the game, he would suffer a shoulder injury after battling for a rebound as he subbed out seven seconds later and would not return for the remainder of the contest.
Here's Johni Broome's stats from the game against Washington:
Extent of Johni Broome's injury; impact he has on Auburn this season
Despite Johni Broome's injury, Auburn still dominated Georgia State on both sides of the ball en route to a 100-59 victory.
Three players scored 17 or more points for the Tigers. Cheney Johnson lit up the nets with 26 points and eight rebounds on 12-of-14 shooting from the field, Chad Baker-Azara put up 19 points (11-of-11 from the free throw line) and six assists while Denver Jones provided 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting overall.

Even with the win secured, there was still attention being paid to the extent of Broome's injury, which head coach Bruce Pearl made sure to address after the game.
"Obviously, his right shoulder kind of came out. Came right back. He did it a year ago, so he’s had some experience with it. We’ll take a look at it tomorrow and tell you more, but we hope he’s going to be okay," Pearl said via AL.com.
Broome has been a key player all season for the Tigers so far. After 11 games, he leads the team in scoring and rebounds with 19.7 points and 12.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists on 55.8% shooting from the field. The next leading scorer is Baker-Mazara with 12.6 ppg, indicating the huge role Broome has in the Tigers' success on offense.
Improving to 10-1 on the season, Auburn will hope for a quick recovery from Johni Broome as they prepare for their next matchup against the No. 16 Purdue Boilermakers at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
