JuJu Watkins admires A'ja Wilson's influence and inspiration despite playing different roles on respective teams

USC Trojans guard JuJu Watkins, one of the rising stars in women’s basketball, praised WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson for her dominance on the court, even though the two play different roles on their respective teams.

Wilson is a three-time WNBA MVP (2020, 2022, 2024) and two-time WNBA champion (2022, 2023) with the Las Vegas Aces.

In an interview with “Good Game with Sarah Spain” on Dec. 18, Watkins was asked about which player(s) she looks up to when trying to develop her skills.

“I love watching basketball, and I’d probably say A’ja Wilson [is my favorite player],” Watkins said. “I just love her game even though we’re kinda different.
"Just the way she’s able to dominate the game in her post moves. She’s really beautiful to watch.”

JuJu Watkins has made a name for herself as a versatile scorer and perimeter threat. Her ability to shoot from range, slash to the basket, and create for her teammates highlights a more guard-oriented style of play. Meanwhile, Wilson dominates from inside the paint.
