USC Trojans are off to a hot start

The Trojans ground out a gritty two-point win over then-No. 20 Ole Miss in Paris in the season opener before blowing out Cal Poly by 55 points a week ago. The win over the Matadors was fueled by a standout defensive performance by USC, as it made 28 steals and forced 43 turnovers and 15 fouls from the visitors.

The Trojans held CSUN to fewer than 10 points in the first three quarters. The hosts went on a 37-0 run in the second frame, holding the visitors scoreless for 10 minutes and creating an 87-point lead at one point.

USC found its stroke from rainbow territory, shooting 17-of-36 from beyond the arc. The Trojans also outclassed the Matadors in rebounding (40 to 26) and assists (28 to eight).

Ranked third in the latest AP poll, the Trojans will hope they can make a deep run into March Madness. They finished with a 29-6 record last season and made it to the Elite Eight.

USC faces Santa Clara (Friday) and Notre Dame (Nov. 23) before heading into the Women's Acrisure Holiday Invitational, where it plays Seton Hall (Nov. 27) and Saint Louis (Nov. 29).
