Kansas' Hunter Dickinson argues slow-motion replay made Flagrant 2 vs. Duke look "more malicious"
Hunter Dickinson endured a difficult outing against the Duke Blue Devils on November 26. The Kansas Jayhawks center was ejected after the referees called a Flagrant 2 foul on him in the second half for striking Duke forward Maliq Brown with his foot after they fell to the ground while battling each other for a rebound.
Ahead of the Jayhawks' game against the Creighton Bluejays on Wednesday, Dickinson addressed the media in a press conference yesterday.
When quizzed about his ejection, Dickinson believed the slow-motion replays played a big part in it.
"I think the thing that probably got it a Flagrant 2 was the slow-mo,” said Dickinson. "I feel like if you watched it in real time and in normal speed, I feel like it was a Flagrant 1. I don’t think — I think a Flagrant 2 needs to be a little more malicious intent for that to occur."
Dickinson went on to respect the referees' call despite his views against it, admitting there is no need for him to dwell on it any longer.
"But, I put myself in that position and the refs made the call,” Dickinson said. "So, you’ve gotta — if you’re gonna put yourself in that position you can’t really be too picky and choosy with it."

Up until his ejection, Hunter Dickinson tallied 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. His ejection made life difficult for the Jayhawks, who managed to hold on for a narrow 75-72 win over the Blue Devils in their second matchup against a ranked opponent this season.
Duke's Kon Kneuppel had the chance to take No. 1 Kansas to overtime, but he missed his 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Dajuan Harris Jr. finished as the Jayhawks' top scorer with 14 points, and nearly finished with a double-double as he recorded nine assists. Zeke Mayo and AJ Storr finished with 12 and 11 points respectively, while Flory Bidunga came off the bench to hold down the fort for the Jayhawks, recording six points and eight rebounds.
The game between the Jayhawks and the Bluejays will take place at the CHI Health Center in Omaha on December 4 at 8:30 PM ET.
