Kim Mulkey explains why 5-star LSU commit Divine Bourrage is the perfect fit
LSU Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey was in Davenport to watch LSU commit and 5-star recruit Divine Bourrage play for her high school.
Mulkey commented on Bourrage's fit in the Tigers' system and said that her perimeter play will be important for them next season.
"The position she plays was the first thing, we need a perimeter player," Mulkey said (1:02 onwards) "She can handle the point guard position, she can play the off-guard. I'm just gonna enjoy that she's going to be an LSU Tiger."
Mulkey explained that she and three LSU coaches made the trip to see Divine during college finals.
"This was an opportunity this week, we're off because of finals, and so myself and three coaches we hopped a plane and here we are."
Bourrage committed to LSU in September this year. The 5-ft-11 guard averaged 19.8 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 5.6 apg, and 3 spg last season, leading the 22-3 North Davenport Wildcats to a Mississippi Athletic Conference title and an Iowa Class 5A state tournament quarterfinals appearance.
According to ESPN, Bourrage is the top player in Iowa and the No. 12 recruit in the Class of 2025.
Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers stay undefeated with wins over Stanford and Grambling
Kim Mulkey and the Tigers remained unbeaten after a dramatic comeback 94-88 OT victory over Stanford in the SEC/ACC Challenge on Dec. 5, and a drubbing of Grambling on Dec. 8.
The Stanford game showed the resilience and grit of Kim Mulkey's squad, who clawed back from a six-point deficit with just 40 seconds left in regulation.
LSU guard Mikaylah Williams was the hero of the night, scoring 32 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Williams’ crucial plays in the final moments included a three-point play, a game-tying jumper with four seconds left, and a clutch 3-pointer to open overtime.
With standout performances from Williams, Aneesah Morrow, and Flau’Jae Johnson, LSU continues to prove their mettle as a top contender, building momentum for tougher challenges ahead.
They have improved to an 11-0 record, with their next matchup coming against LA-Lafayette on Sunday, Dec. 15.
