LeBron James or Steph Curry? JuJu Watkins, Cooper Flagg trust 4x NBA champ to take the last shot for Team USA
Cooper Flagg and JuJu Watkins chimed in with their hot take on Team USA basketball's 2024 Paris Olympics run as LeBron James and Stephen Curry prepare to lead the team on another quest for the gold medal. House of Highlights asked several athletes who would take the last shot for Team USA.
Watkins and Flagg agreed on the same answer: LeBron James, with the USC Trojans guard adding:
"Most experienced. Best player."
While a few, like Dallas Mavericks' Derek Lively II, picked Stephen Curry who received the most votes. Other answers included Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant.
Team USA is now 2-4 in its pre-Olympics exhibition games with wins over Australia and Serbia in Abu Dhabi. They will next take on South Sudan and Germany in London on Saturday and Monday, respectively. Team USA is grouped alongside Serbia, Puerto Rico and South Sudan for the Olympic games set to tip-off from July 27. The finals will be held on Aug. 10.
Cooper Flagg and JuJu Watkins prepare for historic college seasons
After taking over fans and players at the Olympics scrimmage in Las Vegas as part of Team Select, Cooper Flagg is now preparing for his college debut with the Duke Blue Devils. After an Elite Eight run last season, coach Jon Scheyer will hope to lead his team on a deeper postseason run with Flagg at the center:
“When you have a special guy who’s all about winning and all about competing, I think you have a chance to do something that’s unique,” coach Scheyer said via The Fayetteville Observer. “I feel we have that with [Flagg], but I feel we have that with this group.”
In his senior season with Montverde Academy, Cooper Flagg led the team to a 33-0 perfect record and a state championship. As the projected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA draft, Flagg is expected to do great things before leaving Durham.
JuJu Watkins is also preparing for a historic season as she gets set to lead the USC Trojans once again next season. The Trojans' run in March Madness last year was clipped short by the UConn Huskies in the Elite Eight.
Watkins ended last season averaging 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. This time around, Watkins and Co. are better prepared with talented additions to the team.
The USC Trojans have added KiKi Iriafen and Talia von Oelhoffen, joining from the transfer portal. Furthermore, the Trojans welcome No. 6 Kennedy Smith, No. 13 Kayleigh Heckel, No. 16 Avery Howell and No. 54 Rian Forestier, making it the top-ranked recruiting class in 2024.
