"Let’s go crazy in front of the best fans": Kentucky's Jasper Johnson tries to lure Caleb Wilson and Acaden Lewis to the Wildcats
Jasper Johnson might have joined Mark Pope’s coaching staff this offseason. After five-star prospect Caleb Wilson’s Kentucky visit last week, Johnson spearheads the Wildcats’ recruiting efforts through X.
The UK commit not only reposted speculation of joining forces with Wilson but also left a note for the 6-foot-9 power forward.
“Come on @CalebWilson2025. We missed in AAU. Let’s go crazy in front of the best fans in the country. BBN. “ KY til I Die”💙💙.” Johnson wrote.
The speculations intensified when Wilson promptly responded to Johnson's tweet.
Moreover, Jasper Johnson also has four-star recruit Acaden Lewis on his radar. He teamed up with Lewis for Damian Lillard’s Formula Zero last month, bringing forth a notion for a trio.
“I’ve been talking to Acaden a lot, reaching out to him,” Johnson shared with Kentucky Sports Radio. “I’m definitely pushing for him, I feel like that’s a backcourt that will be very difficult for other teams to defend and stop. I’m definitely talking to him.
“I know that I could feed off (Wilson) him and he could feed off me. I tried to get him to play with me for a couple of summers with Team Thad on the EYBL, so I’m still pushing him to maybe team up in college. That’s something that I’ve been trying to do, as well,” Johnson said about Wilson.
Caleb Wilson and Acaden Lewis' connection is easing Jasper Johnson's pursuit
While Jasper Johnson's leaning toward Wilson and Lewis is enough to garner massive interest from the college circuit, it seems like the two uncommitted players have a similar conversation going on among them.
The talks intensified when Caleb Wilson and Acaden Lewis exchanged cryptic tweets on Tuesday.
The two have openly showcased a desire to play alongside each other in the recent past. As Wilson posted images from his Kentucky visit last weekend, Lewis commented that he wanted to join forces.
Moreover, Wilson prompted Acaden Lewis to join him after he declared his list of final four college programs, which included Kentucky.
Enabling players to recruit each other might be the most efficient idea by Mark Pope's staff. After all, it worked for them in landing Jasper Johnson's commitment.
As Malachi Morena declared his UK commitment in mid-August, he ended the ceremony by saying, "You know where home is at Jasper" and asking Johnson to join him.
