“Let’s go”: La La Anthony reacts to son Kiyan Anthony signing an NIL representation deal with WME Sports days after Angel Reese podcast appearance
Kiyan Anthony got his name in the headlines after appearing on the latest episode of WNBA star Angel Reese's podcast show, "Unapologetically Angel," on Thursday.
After that, he made a move to profit off his name, image and likeness, and his mother La La Anthony has taken notice.
On Monday, the Long Island (New York) Lutheran guard signed a deal with WME Sports, who will provide exclusive representation to the son of former NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, according to the entity's Instagram post:
"WME Sports is proud to announce we have signed Long Island Lutheran guard, Kiyan Anthony, to exclusive NIL representation...Welcome to the family, Kiyan!"
Reacting to the news with an Instagram story post on Monday, his mother had a simple response to his significant decision that will benefit him financially.
"Let's go," La La wrote.
It's not the first NIL deal that Kiyan Anthony has had the pleasure of earning. According to Forbes in 2023, he signed an endorsement deal with PSD, a premium underwear brand that works with many star athletes. Other basketball players they have collaborated with include Bronny James, Jimmy Butler and Trae Young.
Kiyan Anthony's recruitment rankings and schools of interest
Kiyan Anthony is rated as a four-star recruit with a 95 score by 247Sports. He is ranked the best in the state of New York as well as sixth among shooting guards and 34th in the country. His composite score of 0.9880 keeps him at the top in the state, sixth at his position, while he is 28th nationally.
He has plenty of high-level programs in pursuit of his services when he finishes high school in 2025. Among the teams courting him are USC, Syracuse, Auburn, Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State and Michigan.
However, most of these teams won't be on his radar. Anthony told Angel Reese on her podcast the top three teams that are under his serious consideration: Auburn, USC and Syracuse. He also said he has a potential announcement date of sometime in mid-November. That's also when the early signing period begins.
It would be fair to believe that Anthony is taking care of his NIL situation early on before he begins college so that area won't be of concern to him while he is playing.
Once he makes the biggest choice of his basketball career, Kiyan Anthony should only continue progressing further into becoming the player he wants to be. And from the looks of it, his family will give him all the support he needs to succeed.
