“Lot of people don't got that”: Kiyan Anthony picks one quality he wishes to inherit from dad Carmelo Anthony
Kiyan Anthony was one of top-3 scorers of the PIT tournament. His impressive points tally came off while shooting 78.9% from the field and 83.3% from the three-point line.
While Kiyan Anthony might have the shooter's mentality like Melo, he thinks there is more that he needs to inherit to replicate his father, Carmelo Anthony's game. In the recent episode of "7 PM in Brooklyn" uploaded on July 31, the 17-year-old displayed a desire to harbor Melo's ability to power through opponents in the lane.
"I feel like just his versatility," he said. "A lot of stars just got like one-dimensional like just could shoot or is bouncy, could dunk on somebody but like he was shooting and then body bumping into the basket. I feel like that's just, a lot of people don't got that," Anthony added.
"And he got the respect from all the other superstars so. Once you get the respect from everybody else, you up there," Anthony explained his purpose to develop it into his arsenal. (starts at 57:30)
Carmelo Anthony is regarded as one of the best shooters in history, primarily known for his off-the-jab footwork, bullying his way to the rim and constantly using his size to his advantage.
While Kiyan Anthony's offensive acumen could twin-fold, it could take some time for him to inherit it. He still has a few inches to reach Melo's frame and a gap of nearly 60 pounds to fill before playing bully-ball.
Kiyan Anthony could be following Carmelo Anthony's shoes
Kiyan is currently on a trip to Japan with his mom La La Anthony. The mother-son duo have been hopping restaurants, playing games and indulging in the Japanese culture through food and other immersive activities.
However, before his trip, Kiyan Anthony left the conversation open on his possible college program. After posting impressive numbers during the Peach Jam week, Anthony declared his top-6 preferred schools for the next year.
He named Auburn Tigers, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Florida State Seminoles, Ohio State Buckeyes, USC Trojans and Carmelo Anthony's ex-college Syracuse Orange. While there is more than one factor that will solidify his decision, he has already visited the Orange and even posed in their jersey with his father by his side.
