"Love you my guy": Iowa HC Fran McCaffery's son Patrick welcomes brother Jack McCaffery to the Butler Bulldogs' MBB program
After Patrick McCaffery, his younger brother Jack McCaffery has ditched the Hawkeyes to join the Butler Bulldogs. The four-star prospect from the Class of 2025 has officially declared his commitment to the Bulldogs after his brother transferred from Iowa this offseason.
Patrick McCaffery welcomed his sibling to the program by reposting a @tiponedits update about Jack’s decision on his Instagram story.
“Congrats brother so happy for you. love you my guy. GO DAWGS," he wrote while tagging the upcoming freshman's Instagram account.
The new commit is a 6-foot-8 wing with his rankings ranging from 70-130 in various polls. He averaged 15.9 points and 6.5 rebounds as a junior.
While his brother was one reason behind the leaning towards Butler, Jack McCaffery joined the program due to their persistent efforts to have him on their side. The Bulldogs had already solidified their interest by offering him more than a year ago.
Additionally, one of their coaching staff members was always present to scout, support and assess McCaffery at his games this summer.
“My brother goes there too and he likes it a lot so it helped my decision," McCaffery said in an interview with CBS Sports.
"I also built a great relationship with both Coach Joseph and Coach Matta throughout the process,” he added.
Jack McCaffery has strong ties to the Iowa Hawkeyes
Jack McCaffery has long ties to top Indianapolis programs. His father, Fran McCaffery, will embark on his 15th year in the head coaching role for the Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball. He joined them in 2010.
His elder brother Connor McCaffery is a former Hawkeye currently employed by the Indiana Pacers as a team assistant. He is dating Hawkeyes legend Caitlin Clark.
In an interview with Gazette earlier this year, Jack cited the hardships his brothers faced with the Hawkeyes and the aspects he planned to handle differently in his journey.
