LSU's Flau'jae Johnson reveals her unique superstition for which she can get "clowned" by fans

Flau'jae Johnson has cultivated a fan base like no other. On the court, she is a star guard for the LSU Tigers. Off the court, she's a successful rapper, social worker, podcaster and much more. Nevertheless, despite all the love her fans shower her with, she believes that one of her brief high school habits will entice her followers to crack jokes at her.

In a conversation with JuJu Watkins on the Best of Both Worlds podcast, Johnson scooped up a hilarious story about her superstition regarding peppermints in her socks during her high school days.

"I used to put peppermints in my socks," Johnson said. "I don't know why I used to do that. I thought it was a thing that really helped me until I didn't have no more peppermints and I ran out and I still had a good game."
"I swear I'm not lying, it started in high school. I used to be hungry in practice, I used to eat the peppermints and then put them in my sock and then one practice I killed. And I thought it was a thing. It wasn't a thing though, it was stupid. I ain't gonna lie, they [fans] gonna clown me, but it's cool," Johnson added. (12:19)

JuJu Watkins has been styling her hair in a bun ever since she was five. As she set the all-time record for scoring as a freshman last season, her daily hair-do has grown to become a signature mark.

Flau'jae Johnson names her craziest fan moment

Flau'jae Johnson's massive following resulted in some of the most heartwarming gestures by fans. Be it the handmade bracelets presented to her by young girls or their infatuation, constantly reminding Johnson of her stature as a role model.

However, one of the instances turned sideways when a fan wrote Johnson multiple letters and sent them to LSU's facility, asking her to meet after the practice.

"It got kinda crazy. 'See me after practice,' like I'm getting in my car. This is like, 'You gotta back up.' And I'm getting in my car and he's like, 'Did you get my letters?'" Johnson told JuJu Watkins. (24:10)

Flau'jae Johnson claimed that it was the first time she ever refused to take a picture with a fan. Moreover, the incident made her rethink her safety and hire security.
