LSU star Flau'jae Johnson believes Jaylen Brown should've been on Team USA instead of 2024 NBA champ

Flau'jae Johnson is keeping the narrative around Derrick White's invitation to represent Team USA in the Paris Olympics over Boston Celtics teammate Jaylen Brown alive. White was offered a spot after Kawhi Leonard was relieved of his duties in light of injury management and health.

While White, one of the best defensive guards in the league, had earned his invite, it came at the cost of snubbing Brown, the 2024 Finals MVP.

In an episode of the Best of Both Worlds podcast released on Thursday, Johnson touched on the story while uploading the video hours before the Olympics opening ceremony.

"Can we talk about Jaylen Brown not being on the team?," Johnson said on her podcast. "I'm just asking as a fan of the game, you bring Derrick White on right? And don't get me wrong Derrick White is an amazing player. He had an All-Star-caliber season this year. It's no way you don't invite the Finals MVP to go represent the country in the game of basketball where he just won a championship," she added.
"I don't know, one plus one is not equaling two. That's all I'm saying. Jaylen Brown, he's insane. I can't wait to see what he'd do next year, him and Tatum. I don't understand that. Y'all let me know in the comments what y'all think, but I don't think that was wise. I'm not sure," she followed.

Flau'jae Johnson also highlighted a possible involvement of politics in Jaylen Brown's snub, hinting that the real reason might remain unknown.

A similar incident happened with the Women's Team USA roster when Caitlin Clark was left out from the Olympics team. However, the selection panel clarified the snub by stating that they were aiming for experienced WNBA players and had been scouting for the last few years.

Flau'jae Johnson song to be official anthem of WNBA

Johnson dropped her debut album on June 28 and has seen her musical career skyrocket since then. She soaked in the limelight while performing at the ESPYs on July 11 and then ignited WNBA fans at the All-Star event in Phoenix.

Now, less than a month ahead of her feature with Lil Wayne, Flau'jae Johnson collaborated with Culture Jam alongside singers BIA and Lakeyah for the song ‘Can't Get Enough.’

The track is touted as the “Official Anthem of the WNBA" and will be used by ESPN for their WNBA telecasts. Johnson teased the song earlier through her Instagram stories and the music video was released yesterday.
